Pune bandh Today on December 28, 2010 as Pune Corporation removed Dadoji Konddeo/ Dadoji Konddev Statue about eight city buses were damaged by protestors as Shiv Sena-BJP sponsored Pune bandh, called to protest against the removal of the statue of Dadoji Kondadev, a historical figure, started on a violent note on Tuesday.
A statue in Pune has created a political stir, after more than 30 members of the Shiv Sena were detained for protesting against its removal. A statue of Dadoji Kondadev, who is hailed as the ‘guru’ of Chhatrapati Shivaji, was removed from Pune’s Lal Mahal and placed in a municipal garden near to the Pune Municipal Corporation office.

Congress–NCP coalition governs the Corporation currently, and they plan to install a statue of Shivaji’s father, Shahaji Maharaj.
